| 英文描述 | Trichomoniasis is caused by TRICHOMONAS GALLINAE, and is a parasitic disease of primarily pigeons, in which infections may be severe, but also of caged birds, turkeys and chickens, in which the disease is rarely severe. The parasite replicates in the mouth, esophagus, and crop, producing small yellowish lesions. Advanced cases may show liver involvement with yellowish necrotic lesions. Diagnosis can be made by identification of the parasite in stained smears of sections or by growing it in vitro. TETRATRICHOMONAS GALLINARUM has been reported to be a cause of enterohepatitis in turkeys and chickens (although its true pathogenicity has been questioned), and was associated with encephalitis in a mockingbird . |
